Rupi Kaur – Milk and Honey | Review

41rrzplmctl-_sx321_bo1204203200_Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur is an amazing poetry collection separated into four parts:

  1. the hurting
  2. the loving
  3. the breaking
  4. the healing

it is your blood
in my veins
tell me how i’m
supposed to forget

I really enjoyed this collection. I know there is a lot of controversy about this book and I can see what the problems would be. However, the fact is I enjoyed it, and that is the only thing that matters.

i am a museum full of art
but you had your eyes shut

I saw one review of this book which said that it is incredibly important to read it at the right time of your life, and I believe I really did just that. I felt so much, I felt all the emotion in the words I read and I enjoyed that very much. I connected with these poems on a very deep level, they were quite relatable.

you treat them like they
have a heart like yours
but not everyone can be as
soft and as tender

you don’t see the
person they are
you see the person
they have the potential to be

you give and give till
they pull everything out of you
and leave you empty

Reading this poetry collection was a very enjoyable experience and I am looking forward to reading Rupi Kaurs second collection of poetry The Sun and Her Flowers!
